Answer No. 1
After downloaded Webcam Settings or Sight Control, you should be able to find it in your /Applications folder. You can double click on the icon to open it.
After you open it, it will not show up on your Dock like other Mac OS X app.
Webcam Settings or Sight Control will be running on your menubar as a small icon and stays there.
On the small icon you can show/hide the Webcam Settings Panel or Sight Control Panel and every settings is inside the panel.

FAQ No. 2
- How do I stop FaceTime mirror imaging.
- Does your app have a setting to fix webcam mirroring?
- Can I flip or mirror the image using sight control?
- How can I switch from the image so that shows me right not in mirror?
- Does your software webcam settings have a setting to 'inverse' the picture. Text shows up backward on skype. I wish to find a support app/software that allows to switch or mirror the image.
- ...
Answer No. 2
Webcam Settings and Sight Control do not provide mirror-imaging function. These two apps let you configure camera hardware settings such as brightness, contrast and so on. Currently there is no camera supports mirroring function from its hardware.
You will usually need a camera driver to provide software based mirroring function. Webcam Settings and Sight Control are apps so they are not able to provide such function.
If you are seeing mirrored image in FaceTime and Skype then don’t worry. Your family or friends on the other end are seeing right image (not mirrored!). The mirroring only happens on your screen.
Text looks mirrored on your screen in FaceTime.
Text looks right on the other end in FaceTime.
Text looks mirrored on your screen in Skype.
Text looks right on the other end in Skype.
Photo Booth is another app that shows mirrored image. It has “Flip Photo” and “Auto Flip New Items” functions to flip the mirror. You can also find Quartz Composition plug-in that reverses the image in Photo Booth.
To preview or record videos without mirroring effect in Photo Booth, you can use QuickTime Player in your /Applications folder.
FAQ No. 3
- I have a Logitech C920 and I'd like to be able to change the aspect ratio from 16:9 to 4:3.
- Do you know any reason why in iMovie the C920 would only film in what looks like 3:2 aspect ratio, and not 16:9? Is there any way to control this in iMovie so that I get widescreen HD?
- My current software has resolution limitations and I wanted something that would make full use of the HD.
- 720p resolution; and wide screen view?
- Is this possible to setup resolution for video (native, hd etc)?
- ...
Answer No. 3
The video resolution and aspect ratio is usually controlled by video apps. Because only the video app knows what kind of resolution and aspect ratio it can handle.
There are some information regarding resolution and aspect ratio from different apps.
1. QuickTime Player
QuickTime Player provides 3 video recording quality - Medium, High and Maximum.2. iMove '11
Using Logitech HD Webcam C920 On Mac OS X 10.6
Medium - 320x180
High - 640x480
Maximum - 1920x1080
On Mac OS X 10.7
Medium - 640x480
High - 1280x720
Maximum - 1920x1080
On Mac OS X 10.8
Medium - 640x480
High - 1280x720
Maximum - 1920x1080
You can switch recording quality on Mac OS X 10.6 from High to Maximum to record 1920x1080 from C920. But it will only record at about 5 fps on 10.6.
If your system is 10.7 or 10.8, not only can you record 1280x720 at High quality setting. You can also get a lot higher fps while recording at 1920x1080.
Normally iMovie records video in 4:3 from your C920. But it does allow recording in 16:9.3. Skype
The trick to make iMovie '11 recording 16:9 widescreen HD format - use QuickTime Player to help switch between 4:3 and 16:9!
QuickTime Player allows you to choose 3 levels of recording quality (see FAQ #2).
While switching different recording quality in QuickTime Player, you will notice resolution is switched in iMovie's video import window as well. This way you can control iMovie's recording resolution.
Skype usually starts video session in 4:3, it will then switch to 16:9 in about 1 minute after the video call if it decides you have an HD webcam and the bandwidth is large enough.
But many people complain that Skype keeps switching between 4:3 and 16:9 which is very annoying...
I purchased it from the App Store but it's not opening. Everytime I click it the icon appears in the dock then vanishes. HELP I need this for my Skype business meetings!
ReplyDeleteCan you find the icon on the menubar?
DeleteI cannot get it working with Logitech CD910 in iMovie or Quicktime, even after trying to install WSiE. It won't override the iSight camera and cannot be selected. When trying to install WSiE, it gives the error that iMovie cannot be found, however, I'm in iMovie. iMovie is definitely on my iMac. Working in these apps is why I bought it, please assist.
ReplyDeleteC910
DeleteI got it working in Quicktime, didn't see the selection thing in Quicktime. But still no iMovie.
ReplyDeleteWhich version of iMovie are you using? Please email me at mactaris@mac.com, I will be able to respond more efficiently by email.
DeleteI downloaded it on my workstation and it works great but now I need to use it on my laptop. I copied the application to the Applications folder on my laptop but it does not open. Any ideas would be appreciated.
ReplyDeletePlease delete the copied over version from Applications folder first. You can then login to your Mac App Store account on the laptop and download Webcam Settings form the "Purchases" list.
DeleteAny plans to support Logitech's Broadcaster WIFI webcam?
ReplyDeleteI am afraid that's not possible. Logitech Broadcaster webcam is not an UVC camera. It's controlled by Logitech's custom made driver.
DeleteUnlike other Logitech UVC cameras which are controlled by Apple's UVC class driver, Logitech has full control over Broadcaster webcam. There is no reason why they cannot provide camera settings for this product on Mac.
One of my client has a similar wireless camera which I built driver for. They do support camera settings through app -> custom made driver -> wireless module ->the camera hardware. And the camera settings support is part of the product plan in the beginning with. I would expect Logitech to do the same while planning their Mac specific product...
I just purchased the webcam settings for my Logitech C910. Nothing is working. Photobooth justs keeps spinning on my mac running 10.7.5. Ive tried to use it for Skype meetings voice or video is not working. Can you assist me on this issue?
ReplyDeleteCan you please email me at mactaris@mac.com so I can assist you directly through email? Thanks.
DeleteI just bought this in the app store and I'm blown away! My Microsoft LifeCam Cinema was always too bright and had a terrible framerate. After I played around with this for a few minutes, I found out they were both caused by the exposure time being all the way up. I put the slider down a little bit and get an amazing picture. I can't wait to try this on my MacBook too
ReplyDeleteHeard great things about this app but i'm confused. do i plug my logitech c920 webcam into the usb and then launch the app. newbie at play!
ReplyDeleteYes, you can
Delete1. Plug in C920 to your Mac.
2. Start video/photo app, for example FaceTime.
3. Select C920 as your video source in FaceTime.
4. Start Webcam Settings app and select Logitech Camera from the drop down menu.
5. Now adjust any setting in Webcam Settings panel and you will see video quality changes in FaceTime.
If you have any question, please email me at mactaris@mac.com.
Thanks very much.
ReplyDeleteHi there
ReplyDeleteWill this app work for the Logitech C920 and the Livestream Producer app? I'm on Mac OS 10.7 and a MacBook Pro 13" 2010. I'm afraid if I purchase the webcam and it won't work with the Livestream application...
Yes, Webcam Settings works with Livestream for Producers on my Mac.
DeleteHow can I get my adjusted settings to load by default. Whenever I open Photobooth for example, I then have to open webcam settings and load my saved settings. Is there a way around this, where my custom settings will load by default.
ReplyDeleteSight Control 1.3 added the ability to load a preset when app starts. Webcam Settings 1.3 will add this feature also and will be released very soon.
DeleteThe agent V5 and V6 full HD webcams are not compatible with Sight control
ReplyDeleteSight Control is designed to support only Apple's built-in cameras. Please choose Webcam Settings for external UVC camera support.
DeleteI love the app, but was hoping it would let me mirror the input. I'm trying to show a mobile device, and it inverts everything. Any plans to support this, or better, is there already a way to do this?
ReplyDeleteI have added FAQ No.2 to answer the mirroring issue. Please take a look and let me know if the answer helps.
DeleteI purchased Webcam setting last night, and have not been able to open it.
ReplyDeleteHere is the message from the popup: "Webcam Settings" is damaged and can't be opened. Delete "Webcam Settings" and download it again from the App Store.
I've done this twice and still get this message. What is wrong?
This message usually means this copy of "Webcam Settings" is not directly downloaded on the current Mac you are using. Did you download "Webcam Settings" on other Mac and copy over to this Mac?
DeleteIf this is the case, please delete "Webcam Settings" app in your /Applications folder, open App Store and login to the account you used for purchase. You can then re-download the app from your purchases list again.
If you are still having problem, please email me at mactaris@mac.com and I will try me best to help resolve this issue.
It was purchased on this Mac, and downloaded from the App Store. I'll email you shortly with details of what I have done so far.
ReplyDeleteDoes this software only works with the two mentioned logitech camera's? or also with other brand camera's? (Genius Widecam F100)

Does this work with the Logitech c510?

Hi...
ReplyDeleteI probably made a mistake in the sense that I bought iVision which I would need to control a Logitech C920...since I am travelling and have not checked it yet my question is: Would it work?
You will need Webcam Settings to control Logitech C920. May I ask if you bought iVision on the Mac App Store?
DeleteI purchased webcam settings in an effort to default to the usb webcam rather than the builtin facetime cam on a macbook pro when using skype. Immediately skype crashed when opening and that is the state of play since. I have wasted untold hours trying to get skype up and running again. I have unstalled both webcam settings and skype fully (including all items in the library preferences and application support) to no avail. Does webcam setting install components elsewere strangely named eluding all searches? I have read the skype forums inside out and removed any applications and plugins they recommend. Is there an obvious answer to this that I am missing? PS. long story and I as much as I would like to use alternative video software my situation bounds me to use skype - I need it back urgently.
ReplyDeletePlease send me email - mactaris@mac.com and this will allow me to respond more efficiently. I will try to quickly answer a few issues here.
Deletea. There is no way to assign a default webcam on Mac OS X, the design is to have the video apps providing a way for the user to choose which camera to use. This can be done on Windows but not on Mac OS X :(
b. Webcam Settings is a Mac App Store app and Apple requires every app on the store to be sandboxed. This means Webcam Settings cannot install any component elsewhere. It is locked in the app itself. Once you delete the app, it does not affect your Mac in any ways.
c. Can you follow these steps and give me the result in email? I maybe able to help resolve the Skype issue.
1. If "Skype" is running, quit it.
2. Open "Console" app inside your /Applications/Utilities folder
3. You should see lots of logs from various apps or from OS X itself
4. Click "Show Log List" button on the toolbar (top left button), if the button says "Hide Log List" then leave it here
5. The left pane shows many logs you can inspect, select "All Messages" under "SYSTEM LOG QUERIES" (the second item), you the saw all system messages
6. Click "Clear Display" toolbar button, this gives you a clear screen
7. Launch "Skype" now
8. After launch, you should see a bunch of messages generated by "Skype"
9. Please select all messages generated by "Skype" and paste into email and send them to me.
Thank you very much.
I'm having the same issue, can I also send you my logs?
DeleteThanks!

ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteI've bought Sight Control for my 2013 rMBP, but I can hardly change any of the settings. Only Brightness, Contrast, Hue, Saturation and Sharpness work. Thanks
Apple is using a new generation of camera in your rMBP 2013 and this new camera supports only a few controls, you can check this post for more details.

Just purchased and install for my HP HD 5210 webcam on OSX 10.9.1. Video appears to work within apps like FaceTime and Skype with varying degrees of jitter, but the audio is non existent. When its not crackling or making popping sounds followed by periods of silence it serves up a digitized monster growl that is totally unintelligible. Is this driver meant to support video only and not audio?
ReplyDeleteBoth video and audio should be working fine on OS X 10.9.1. Is your webcam connected directly to the USB port on your Mac?
DeleteYes. Its connected to 1 of 4 available USB ports on a Mac mini. Mini is 1 month old.
DeleteLooking for any updates on this. Do I need to request a refund since the app is not working as intended? Is there a fix or work around i should be aware of? Thx.

DeleteHi we are using your app to control a c920, we are using to change the settings at certain time of the day to have a better image quality depending by sun position to avoid backlight, a nice addition would be to add the ability to add a time at which a setting is used in this way a user could create a queue to change them according to time hour. We noticed a strange behavior also about the zoom, it seems the app doesn't keep it, we saved the profile and we set it to be written every 0.5 sec.
ReplyDeleteps. we are using automator to record mouse movements to change the app settings and write down to the current profile.
DeleteI have other users asking for similar options, I am thinking about how this can be done. It will probably take some time before I can come up with a good design.
DeleteCan you provide support for the Logitech CC3300e camera? All is working, only Pan and Tilt are missing. I can help to test if you don't have a CC3300e.
ReplyDeletehi, i just purchased your app webcam setting. in the faq section you say:
ReplyDelete-You can switch recording quality on Mac OS X 10.6 from High to Maximum to record 1920x1080 from C920. But it will only record at about 5 fps on 10.6.
If your system is 10.7 or 10.8, not only can you record 1280x720 at High quality setting. You can also get a lot higher fps while recording at 1920x1080.-
Now, i'm running on a macbookpro 10.6.8 with 2.53 Ghz intel core 2 duo and 4 GB of RAM.
My question is: if i upgrade my system to Maverick will this speed up my C920 to record ad 1920x1080 in a smooth way with a lot higher fps?
I have a big doubt, I have used a mac 1.9.1 and C920 and software like ScreenFlow or miracast. My question is, in those applications where the quality change of the webcam recording. My other question is always compressed in H264 and 720 in 1080 Even if we do not have the soft installed on Mac because there is that is ?, HArd compression, but also in the MAC does, and does so independently of the program to record or has to be alone with Quicktime
ReplyDeleteHence my question is how to record with Wirecast 720 webcam or Screenflow and doubt whether always compressed in h264 but we use it in Mac
Does Webcam Settings cause the "VTDecoderXPCService" process to run? iGlasses (another webcam control application) causes this to draw 60-70% on the CPU, and I would like to try Webcam Settings to see if this is the same.
ReplyDeleteNo, Webcam Settings is controlling the camera hardware directly and it's not doing post image processing which eats CPU.

ReplyDeleteCurrent version Webcam Settings 2.3 is still compatible with Mac OS X 10.6.8, you can purchase it on the Mac App Store.
DeletePlease email me if you have any problem purchasing
I just bought a Logitech C615 webcam but I can't use it properly on my Mac. I have an older operating system - Mac 0S X version 10.6.8 and don't want to upgrade this system due to programs which are running on that. Where can I find the right version of the "Mactaris Webcam setting" so that I can use all the features of the webcam? I guess I have to buy the very first version of that and not the latest...
ReplyDeleteWebcam Settings 2.3 (the current version) on the Mac App Store is compatible with Mac OS X 10.6.8.
DeleteAre the settings made by Webcam Settings permanent? For example, can I manually set the focus, quit Webcam Settings and have that focus setting remain permanent? Or, does some webcam application have to be running for Webcam Settings to work?
ReplyDeleteYou can keep Webcam Settings running and configure it to "Write every settings to webcam" "Every 1 second", this should be enough to keep the focus remain permanent.
DeleteThanks. I'll give it a shot.
ReplyDeleteCan I use any one of your products to start & stop video recording based on Calendar events on my iMac. I'm ok using my built-in webcam or an external webcam.
ReplyDeleteDear Liang-Hsin Chen
ReplyDeleteI have just bought the app "Webcam Settings" and installed it on my Mac with OSX 10.9.5
The zoom function does not seem to respond when hooked up to a Logitech c930e webcam.
Can you possibly give me advice on how to fix this?
Zooming in and out is my primary need from this webcam. I bought your app as the free software from Logitech does not seem to work with this latest OSX system and forums recommended your app as a solution.
Thanks so much for your help.
Marinda
Have been using webcam settings successfully since early 2015 when I saw it recommended by Alex Lindsay on Macbreak weekly. But now, having upgraded to the Apple beta testing program with El Captain, my logicech 930e often freezes after the first few minutes of a skype call and the audio starts distorting. Have a 27 inch 4K iMac with 32 GB memory and no problems when using the built-in camera. I am wondering whether I should remove webcam settings or whether this is a video driver issue which will be solved next month when El Captain is released officially.
ReplyDeleteHi there, glad to have found this product! I'm running OS X 10.10.5, and the Exposure settings are greyed out (Manual/Auto/ShutterPriority/ApeturePriority) - is it not possible to use them for a Macbook Pro FaceTime HD Camera? As that's the reason why I bought the app - to turn off the auto-exposure feature...
ReplyDeleteI also bought the app to turn off the auto-exposure feature on my mac-book pro.
DeleteHowever the Auto-Exposure Mode buttons are greyed out! How infuriating!
Webcam Settings doesn't seem to want to control the Facetime Camera in the 2015 MacBook (Retina) - none of the controls affect the camera at all - I'm watching the camera output in the Audio/Video preferences pane of Skype for Macintosh. Any idea what's going on there?
ReplyDeleteIt does work in Quicktime Player - I can watch realtime changes when I choose New Movie Recording...
ReplyDeleteHi, I just downloaded the webcam settings app to use with my Logitech C615. Pan and tilt controls are not working. What do I need to do to enable them?
ReplyDeleteEver since the El Capitan upgrade I'm getting a TON of errors like this in the Console:
ReplyDelete10/22/15 1:43:47.869 PM Webcam Settings[454]: CameraControl Error: Control request failed: e00002c0
I have a C920 plus the built-in camera in my iMac.
I bought this app a few weeks ago. It stopped working and when I went to download it again it asks me to pay again. This is a rip off. I already paid once, why should I pay twice. I will report this to Apple. Your product should be taken off iTunes.
ReplyDeletewhat kind of security permissions does this need to run? trhx

ReplyDelete** BUG: Profile setting reverts back to default **
**************************************************
It appears that when a profile is set it won't always "stick" on that profile.
I am using a Logitech C920, and Camtasia.
If I open Camtasia, and hit the "open recorder" button, I see a live video feed.
This feed won't be running my "Load at start" profile.
I then open the "Webcam Settings" menu and select my "Load at start" profile (which is selected, but just not active), and the live feed adjusts as expected.
If I now hit record on Camtasia, the live feed reverts back to another profile setting (presumably the "Default Camera" setting).
WORK AROUND:
1. Before I hit the Camtasia record button, I open the Webcam Settings "Show Webcam Settings Panel".
2. I then select my desired profile.
3. I change a setting like the brightness, and hit the "Update Profile" button
4. I then close the Webcam Settings Panel
5. Then quit Webcam settings app completely, and restart it
6. I can now record with Camtasia it the correct profile is applied
However once recording has finished I need to repeat this work around again, otherwise the settings won't stay applied.
Please, Please can you fix this but.
Many thanks

Did the developer ever respond? Is this app abandoned?
DeleteIs there *any* way to get support??
Hi, I just bought this and I can't see a Camera option for my Logitech C615.
ReplyDeleteI have a Mac, El Capitan, and a Logitech C615 webcam(which worked before El Capitan upgrade).
This product did enable video on the Logitech with FaceTime. However, in iMovie 10.1.2, when I import from a camera, there is no option for the external webcam, just the Facetime camera.
I also downloaded the Webcam Settings utility, but I'm not having any luck.
The product page shows support for the Logitech C615 with iMovie. Can you help?
The latest iMovie and Final Cut Pro have removed the option for capturing from any USB WebCam other than an internal "FaceTime" camera.
DeleteI suspect an easy way to get around this would be to fake the external camera's vendor code and make it show up to the system as an Apple FaceTime camera, but I haven't had a chance to test this out.
Is there any way to get support? I paid for the App store app.
ReplyDeleteMy Microsoft Lifecam now shows up as "WebCam" and it can't be used.
This happened yesterday, what I ended up doing was deleting the profile I had saved, and that fixed the issue...But now there are no profiles saved, and it's doing it again.
What should I do!? Please help...
It's not the camera itself, it works on a Windows machine, and it used to work for months on this machine until I started messing with the profiles.
I cannot get Webcam Setting app to open. I do not have access to update it because I cannot get to the Webcam Settings panel. I purchased April 15, 2016. I can get to "Get Info" but it will not appear on my desktop or in the navigation menu. How can you fix this?
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI bought this app, when I open the app, I'm not able to adjust the Exposure mode and White Balance Temperature. Both the options are disabled, couldn't find the ways to enable them. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
I have found some problems using WebCam Settings for an HD Pro Webcam C920 on a Mac Pro 2009. First, it would be much nicer if WebCam showed in the Dock. Because it does not, I went to User & Groups-->Login items to get it to startup. However, sometimes it unexpectedly quits, and in those cases it would be nice to have access in the Dock. Second, I have 3 preset zoom settings: fully zoomed, medium zoom, fully panned. I find that sometimes (after restarting maybe) the Webcam Settings is no longer able to fully zoom anymore when using Skype. I have found that I can fix this by opening Quicktime and starting a movie recording. Then the WebCam Settings zoom control will work again.
ReplyDeleteI bought it for a Philips SPC 900nc but it don't work?
ReplyDeleteCan you refund me money?
thanks you
I'm using a videoconference app (Zoom.us) that has its own built-in Zoom function but no Exposure control. I purchased Webcam Settings today to override exposure control and set it to push every 3 seconds. It works great except it overrides Zoom.us's zoom controls too. Any way to push exposure every 3 seconds but not push zoom in/out??
ReplyDeleteDear Mactaris,
ReplyDeleteI have a Logitech C922. Do you planning add support to this cam too?
Specially Im interested in switch off indicator LED on my C922.
Do you think any newer version will support it?
Thanks for your answer: John
I love the Webcam Settings App. Using it on iMac with Logitech 920. When first setting up the Pan and Tilt adjustment under the Advanced tab was working find. Then sometimes the Tilt arrows would not move the camera angle even the the slider would move left and right. Now when I move the sliders to either side in the Pan and Tilt settings, nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong elsewhere in the settings.
ReplyDeleteThank you,
-Drew
Did you ever get this issue of your pan/tilt not working solved? Having same problem. It was working at first, now it's not working (pan/tilt). Thanks.
DeleteI bought this app with for one purpose: to manually control the exposure of the camera on my macbook pro. So it was with extreme frustration that I found that the buttons that pertain to Auto-Exposure Mode to be greyed out.
ReplyDeleteThis is very infuriating for me.

Works fine.....Now i need to explore creating shallow depth of field for my youtube videos created using this camera....subject is 1 meter from camera and background 5 meters behind...is it possible to blur the backgrounds using this settings app.....thx
ReplyDeleteI bought the Webcam app yesterday - but it won't download on to my mac. It is a MacBook Pro, 10.13.2 (late 2011). How can I remedy this please?

ReplyDeleteHi, Any idea if Webcam Settings would let me control the auto-exposure of the Logitech Brio?
ReplyDeleteI've already tried using the manual exposure with iGlasses from ecamm, but it makes the video all choppy and unexploitable. Thanks for letting me know.
Hi there, I recently purchased a MD500L (http://www.amscope.com/review/product/list/id/3035/category/12/) and the software it comes with for Mac is pretty lacking. I was wondering if your goods will help me get the most out of it running it with a mac?
ReplyDeleteHow do I use it on another computer I own? I am unable to email the file to myself. And I am unable to download again from the app store. Do I have to buy another one for each computer I want to use this on?
ReplyDeleteI just purchased this product and it will not allow me control of my built in Facetime HD camera.
ReplyDeleteI am running this on a 2016 MacBook Pro.
Everything is grayed out
My camera is working fine in apps like, Skype, etc. I wanted this to lock exposure.
Same here-- I'm running a 2018 MacBook Pro and Webcam does not recognize the built in camera (It does recognize all 6(!) external webcameras that I have tested.) Please e-mail a work-around

Thanks!
I had the exactly same issue with 2015 Macbook Pro
DeleteHi, are you still supporting this app? Changing the frequency sometimes works but more often doesn't work to get rid of flicker. Are you willing to help?
ReplyDeletehi, i don't see the Zoom or Focus features in my app using it for the default Mac OS. can you please help me?
ReplyDeleteI just purchased this app yesterday to use with my online teaching. Everything is grayed out on the webcam settings panel. Why? I will need a refund if this isn’t resolved. Thanks for your help
ReplyDeleteI upgraded to Mojave, and the app does not work. There is nothing on your website which tells buyers that the app will not be supported after an upgrade. Can you help?
ReplyDeleteI have been using your software and a logitech 920 camera with no issues. Recently I updated to Catalina and when I open Webcam settings I do not see my camera and I am not allowed to open my settings. I could use your help. Thanks
ReplyDeleteThe app is not compatible with Catalina.
ReplyDeleteCould you please update it ?
Thank you.
Yes, please do an update for Catalina!
ReplyDeleteI would be glad to pay $10 extra for the new version!
Please give us an update for macOS Catalina. I can start webcam settings, but i have no webcams inside the panel.
ReplyDeleteCould you please give us a date of a corrective version, or at least if we can expect a new version soon ?
ReplyDeleteHow soon can we expect an update so that this app works with macOS Catalina? Right now I have no webcams inside the panel
ReplyDeleteHi, I have moved to Catalina and app doesn't work anymore. Any plans for an update?
ReplyDeleteThis app needs to be updated for OS 10.15 so that it can have access to the webcam via: System Preferences/Security & Privacy/Camera
ReplyDeleteGood day. I bought the app today, wonderful app. Unfortunately just after I bought, I upgraded to OS Catalina. :-) It would be awesome if you can do an app upgrade so that it is compatible with MacOS Catalina. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteUpdate since 3 Days available ... Look into your App Store Updates!
ReplyDeleteI am curious as to where you saw the update? To me it appears the last update to Sight Control was 6 years ago. There is another app "Webcam Settings" by same dev that seems to be updated.
DeleteHey! I bought the app yesterday hoping I could adjust my FaceTime HD built in camera on a MacAir running Mojave (10.14). Unfortunately, no matter how I open the panel, every option is greyed out and inaccessible. I'm guessing it's because the app doesn't have permission to access my camera, but the app never requested permission, and I can't figure out how to give it permission from the System Preferences panel. Am I missing a step, or is this app not compatible with the built-in FaceTime HD camera?
ReplyDeleteI have this same problem both on my Macbook Air and on my iMac Pro I'm using Catalina
DeleteSame issue!
Deleteme too.
DeleteYeah I'm seeing issues running Mac OS Mojave. Is there a fix for the Facetime HD camera greyed out issue. Nothing on this page indicates a fix. Could WebCam Settings (Mactaris)TS please reply to this thread? Many customers are upset and experiencing the same issue. Some sort of response would be helpful.

Hi. Super useful app.
ReplyDeleteI am running Catalina 10.15.1 and every time launch the app it turns on the camera light, no matter if I am actively using it or not. When I quit the app the light remains on. The only way to turn it off is to unplug it each time from the computer. Am I doing something wrong?
Does it work with Logitech C922?
ReplyDeleteI have a Logitech Webcam 920 running on a MacPro with OS El Capitan (vs 10.11.16). Does your app Webcam Setting support this configuration and does it allow me to control the audio of the Logitech Webcam.
ReplyDeleteThx,

ReplyDeleteIt seems I have the same issue as you Adam. I am not sure where to get an older version of this app for my mac os x 10.8.3. There is no reply from this company.
ReplyDeleteVery upset. I first installed this and it worked fine. I saved 4 different settings. Now I click on those settings and it makes no difference. I tried to alter the settings and the aperture is greyed out and can't be adjusted. Moving the bars over for other settings such as saturation don't do anything and the whitebalnce is locked and unchecking the box doesn't work.
ReplyDeleteHow do we get a refund on this APP? it doesnt work with 10.9.5. it WILL NOT load.

ReplyDeleteAnswer No. 1: WRONG!!! Absolutely NOTHING happens when I open the app. No little menu bar icon, nothing. I will be asking for my money back from the App Store.
ReplyDeleteI bought your app and it doesn't work on my Macbook 15" under Catalina. It opens but I have no settings.
ReplyDeletebought sight control to control the facetime camera on my 2019 macbook running mojave... the app opens but i cannot move any of the sliders... everything is grey'ed out... suspect it needs to be given access to camera... normally app asks permission... sight control did not... what needs to be one?
ReplyDeletei have the same. what do you expect... app is a scam
DeleteI'm interested in a refund. Some of the items work, but the main reason I wanted it was to change Focus. The support guide says that feature works for the Microsoft Lifecam HD-5000. Unfortunately that slider does not work.
ReplyDeleteNone of the functions work. I'm running High Sierra and using the FaceTime HD Camera. How do I either get it to work or get refund?
ReplyDeletemickey mouse easy money maker with no functionality. developer been making money for years off rip offs

ReplyDeleteThis app does not have access to camera as advertised! Please fix or issue refund!
It won't work on my Macbook Pro 2018 running High Sierra either. I wonder if it worked on the Macbook Pro before this update? Have emailed the contact. No response.
DeleteDoes the 3.0 software work on Macbook Pros (2017+) running Catalina (10.15.4) to adjust the FaceTime camera settings?
ReplyDeletedoes this work with the Facetime HD built-in Camera on Macbook Pro 2014? I bought it but all the tabs are greyed out, and it either overexposes or underexposes - any fix available for this?
ReplyDeleteI bought this to work with the in built Facetime camera on my Mac book pro but when 'FaceTime HD Camera (Built-in)' is selected I get nothing showing up in the 'Basic' panel. When I connect my Logitech to the Mac that works fine. Any ideas?
ReplyDeleteDoes not work on new macbook. Need a refund!

DeleteAre you still supporting your app under MacOS Catalina 10.15.4 or are the new security settings incompatible with your app?
ReplyDeleteJust purchased this app today only to realize after that it is currently broken for Catalina 10.15.4 and coming here to get support I see I'm not the only one. I would like a refund if this isn't going to be fixed soon.
ReplyDeleteMacPro OS X 10.11.6 and can't download App from App Store. Compatibility issue?
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteHave MacBook Pro with Catalina 10.15.4. Controls are greyed-out for FaceTime HD Camera (built-in). Advise if plan to fix or want refund.
Too bad the developer of Webcam Settings does not respond to comments or email. I have been trying to find out why this software version 3.0 does not work on my 2018 Macbook Pro running High Sierra. It opens but there are no basic tools. If an earlier version would work, can I download that? Someone else asked, but I don't see an answer.
ReplyDeleteThis app doesn't work at all. Want refund or explanation. You open it and there are no settings or anything that can be adjusted. Using 2019 MacBook Pro. I am going to seek refund with Apple and let them know this app is completely useless if we can't get a response here.
ReplyDeleteHI, The app appears not to be working, I just bought, and I have the same issue as the previous message, when i open it all the setting are greyed out and are not available.
DeleteI am operating a macbook 15 inch touch bar, OSX 10.14.6. If it doesn't work I will ask refund through apple store/iTune, Unless I can get help for your support, if you guys have one.
Thanks
Same as so many, all options are grayed out. Just purchased Version 3.0 (0301) and running on Mac OS 10.15.3 (19D76) on late 2019 Macbook Pro 13".
DeleteI'm another with this issue. Need this rectified asap as it's currently useless.
ReplyDeleteSame problem as everyone else macbook pro 2019 macOS 10.14.6 all gray nothing works. Apple need to remove from the apple-store.
ReplyDeleteJumping in here to add my voice to the requests. I actually purchased this ages ago, so not looking for a refund... but hoping it will get Catalina support? Just upgraded finally yesterday, app won't even recognize anything but the FAcetime Camera... and same issue as everyone else even for that one.
ReplyDeleteWas working on High Sierra, not working on Mojave. Any chance it can be fixed or I can get a refund? I bought it yesterday. Thank you
ReplyDelete--
“Webcam Settings” is damaged and can’t be opened. Delete “Webcam Settings” and download it again from the App Store."
I bought it Today and since I have Catalina OSX it does not work. How to get money back?
ReplyDeleteThis app has been working great and is a real improvement for my Logitech C920 webcam using zoom. I have a saved profile which works great, but when I stop sharing my screen in zoom, the view reverts back to the default view, not the profile view, and I then need to zoom in again to get the default view to work again.
ReplyDeleteIs this a bug or is there something I can do to stop that happening? Thank you
I just purchased this app for my new 2020 Mackbook pro and I cannot adjusst the settings. When I open the app the settings are grayed out and I am unable to adjust. Please advise.
ReplyDeleteHi, I bought the app today. I have a Macbook pro with catalina loaded. When I open to webcam settings panel to control my FaceTime inbuilt camera, there are no settings available at all - it is a blank settings panel. Please help me resolve this. I bought the app in order to control the white balance of my built in camera.
ReplyDeletesame problem here, not able to change settings at all. Im using Macos catalina on a 2020 macbook pro.
ReplyDeleteI'll say the same thing as Graeme (from July 25, 2020) and Augustin (from July 28, 2020).
ReplyDeleteWhen I open the Webcam Settings from the menu bar, there are no options to adjust.
I'm using Summer 2018, 15" MacBook Pro
¿WebCam Settings Funcionará con "lifeCam Studio" en Catalina 10.15.4?
ReplyDeleteI am using 10.15.6 and Webcam works wonderfully. I am having unrelated Mac Kernal Panics. Apple is asking me to remove from library/extensions two files (shown below) to eliminate possible causes. Are file below related to your product? I have a Microsoft LifeCam Studio Webcam.
ReplyDeleteMSMFramebuffer.kext
MSMVideodevice.kext
I am NOT saying it is related, just trying to isolate possible causes. Thank you for the great support and a VERY useful product.
Thanks!
Same Problem for me with mu Macbook pro 2016, grayed out settings, seems it happened after latest Catalina update, 10.15.6, as I can see probably. I have tried to delete and reinstall but same issue.
ReplyDeleteHi - I have a Dericam W3 1080p webcam - will the Zoom function work on this webcam? Thanks
ReplyDeleteI just bought Webcam Settings from the App Store, not a single camera shows up. Not even the integrated FaceTime camera.
ReplyDeleteI just bought Webcam Settings from the App Store but I don't see my Lifecam Studio in the settings - only the integrated FaceTime camera. I am running OSX 10.15.6
ReplyDeleteI just bought Webcam Settings from the App Store. This application does not work with my webcam and Apple refuses to return my money. It is a complete scam. I do not recommend this application that seems to be "associated" with Apple to keep their customers' money.
ReplyDelete+1 I don't see any of my cameras in the dropdown list. My guess is this old app doesn't know it should ask for camera access.
ReplyDeleteQuite shameful that this is still offered through the App store when it clearly does not work.
ReplyDeletedoes not work at all. can you send a refund now please.
ReplyDeleteThe LifeCam HD-3000 shows the ability to zoom on your compatibility list however when I zoom on the slider there is no movement. Any idea how to fix this?
ReplyDeleteIf not no problem but I will probably ask apple for refund in the next day
DeleteIs there a way I pre-purchase 20 licenses for the webcam settings app? I would like to provide it for my employees
ReplyDeleteBobby
Everything worked fine for me until Big Sur. Now Webcam Settings won't load... any word on an update?

ReplyDeleteIs not working with Big Sur. Any suggestions how to control the iSight camera with Big Sur?
ReplyDeletesame here not working in Big Sur MacBook pro 15"2015
ReplyDeletePerfect solution to my flickering lighting.... except it's not giving me the config options for the macbook air hd camera with big sur. Is an update likely? I don't want to buy a new webcam.
ReplyDeleteIt appears this app has not been updated in quite a while - definitely not functional with macOS 11.
