ReplyDeleteHello, I can see you connect isight with thunderbolt. I believe you have a cable 400/thunder.
ReplyDeleteOK, having said that, I have a mac with firewire 800, not thunderbolt, and it cannot see my camera. I know the connection 400/800 should work, but it doesn't apparently. The cable I use is from ebay and it is a firewire 400 one side and 800 on the other. I tryed ivision and as well it does not recognize isight. Do you have any idea?

Hi, I am actually using an Apple Thunderbolt to Firewire 800 adapter and a 3rd party Firewire 800 to Firewire 400 adapter to connect my iSight and this combination works flawlessly with my MacBook Air 2013.
DeleteCan you try if other video apps recognize your iSight? Such as FaceTime, Photo Booth or QuickTime Player? If these apps recognize your iSight then the issue is maybe iVision. If these apps don't recognize you iSight, I suspect your Firewire 400/800 cable may be the problem.

ReplyDeleteI tried the trial version, and it does not see my iSight or even my internal camera. I have a mid-2015 MacBook Pro with Catalina 10.15.6. The iSight is attached via the Apple Firewire cable > a 400-800 adapter > Thunderbolt > Mac. All my other camera apps work fine. If this app doesn't work with Macs after a certain model or macOS after a certain version, then either the description on the App Store should specify this, or the app should be pulled from the store. Ideally it should be updated, because I have not found another app that provides this level of control -- what I really need is a manual focus.

DeleteHi, I have version 1.2 from the App Store running on macOS Mojave 10.14.6 on a 2013 iMac and an old FireWire iSight and it all works fine... most of the time! It's a great utility.

I would like to know if version 1.2 from the App Store runs on macOS Catalina or macOS Big Sur. I have an old iSight that I dug out of my gear box and have been using that successfully in every app I've tried as my camera, but I would like more control over it. The demo version of iVision does not recognize my camera on macOS 10.15.7.
