DeleteMight be a stupid question, but, in this table, what does the "O" and "X" mean as far as camera compatibility?
ReplyDeleteSorry I have added explanations for these two marks.
DeleteO - Camera hardware support this setting
X - Camera hardware does not support this setting
Power Line Frequency doesn't work in Skype.
ReplyDeleteSkype seems to ignore the power line frequency adjustments. The other apps support it photo booth and facetime seem to support it, but skype does not.
Please advise. Thank you!
Skype seems reset the camera from time to time, can you try open Skype with video first then open Webcam Settings to set line frequency.
DeleteIn this order, the power line frequency should stay in 50Hz until the next time Skype reset the camera.
Can you please try it and let me know if this works for you?
In regards to the last power line frequency issue this is with both intermal imac facetime camera and external logitech c910
ReplyDeletethanks

Is there any hope to get manual 4-direction pan and tilt controls to work with the Logitech QuickCam AF and/or MP? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLogitech QuickCam Orbit AF is not using standard UVC settings to control pan and tilt. It is using vendor specific Extension Units to control those settings.
DeleteI was originally developing an app to control Logitech QuickCam Orbit AF. But I cannot figure out a way to get it on Mac App Store.
So far there are 3 ~ 4 users expressed interest in such an app. I will try to finish up this Orbit AF app and release it next year.
That would be awesome, +1 vote for this at my company.
Deletedo you make a pc version? if not do you have any recommendations for similar software for pc user?
ReplyDeleteSince Microsoft or Logitech provide these settings in their driver/app package on Windows. I have never seen apps designed specifically for this purpose.
DeleteBut I know any video app such as Skype should be able to bring up the "property page" for any webcam. If the webcam supplied driver on its own, you may find a customized property page.
If not, you will probably see a default property page built-in to Microsoft supplied driver. In these property page you will find most of the controls similar to Webcam Settings.
There is no such mechanism on OS X, that's why I built Webcam Settings. Is there any reason why this mechanism on Window doesn't fit your need and you are looking for such kind of thing?
Hello, Is there any way to capture 720p video on a Mac (ether Snow Leopard or Lion) using a Logitech C910 cam? It seems all the apps (like PhotoBooth) have a preset resolution that's someting like 640x480 with no controls to change that. Can 720p capture (or another higher resolution) be done in iMovie perhaps, using the iMovie Enabler? Any other applications? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYes, iMovie records 640x480 video with C910 (maybe I don't know how to use iMovie...).
DeleteYou can capture 960x720 with Apple's QuickTime Player on Lion and QuickTime Player on Mountain Lion will capture 1280x720.
I am planning to release an app which allow you to record at any camera supported resolution.
I'd love to know if you have support for my Logitech TV Cam. This was a webcam originally designed for the Logitech Revue GoogleTV box, but it works just fine on my Mac Mini (Snow Leopard) that I have connected to our HDTV that I use as our family's Plex media server. It works under Skype and Facetime, but I'd like to be able to access the camera's built-in pan and zoom features for our family video chats with grandparents and other relatives. It looks as if this is a variation of the C920 which you already support, but at a MUCH lower price point.
ReplyDeleteThis 720p webcam with a Carl Zeiss glass lens, 5x zoom, pan, and dual microphones designed for living room use, as opposed to most webcam's that are optimized for the user sitting directly in front of the camera at a laptop or desktop, is now selling for under $50. It's pretty much the most bang for the buck for HTPC use, which is Mac compatible(ish), that I know of. Personally, I think you'd garner a decent sized influx of new customers by adding support for this webcam. I know I'd buy your app and then push both the webcam and your app on various HTPC forums, and even on my Amazon review...

This kind of high quality webcam under $50 is really a steal. I would love to buy one and test it. Problem is, I cannot find this webcam anywhere in Taiwan. Can you send me an email at mactaris@mac.com so we can figure out how to test it?
DeleteI just purchased the software for my C910 to work for 10.7.5 The only thing that works is sound, no video. I need it for Skype and any other apps that have video and sound features.

ReplyDeleteWill Webcam Settings for Mac work with Panasonic TY-CC20W camera connected to Mac Mini? I see No Brand USB 2 camera in the table. Camera works on Mac with Skype and Camtasia but of course no adjustments.
ReplyDeleteCan you send me an email at mactaris@mac.com? I will send to a tool to analyze supported hardware controls on this camera. Thank you.

DeleteI'm trying to get a logitech C920 to let me use its full wide angle feature on facetime on Mountain Lion. It's fine with Quicktime, but with FaceTime, I only get the narrower angle/lower quality. Will this app let me do that?
ReplyDeleteFaceTime opens the camera at lower resolution then the C920's full capability. Only certain Macs support FaceTime HD video calling. Please check the following link for details.
Deletehttp://support.apple.com/kb/HT4534?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
Webcam Settings does enable the zoom function for C920 to work with FaceTime call, but I am not sure this is what you are looking for. Maybe you can buy Webcam Settings and try it? You can ask Apple for refund it doesn't meet your requirements. You can email me for any further questions. Thanks.
I am using OSX 10.6.8, and trying to use your WebCam settings app with Logitec 920.
ReplyDeleteIn Quicktime pro, I see that the various light adjustments in WebcamSettings, and zoom, etc. works fine, but no matter what, I am getting 640 x 580 resolution, and not the 1280 x 720 that I need.
Any idea here? Thank you.
QuickTime Player X provides 3 video recording quality - Medium, High and Maximum.
DeleteUsing Logitech HD Webcam C920
On Mac OS X 10.6
Medium - 320x180
High - 640x480
Maximum - 1920x1080
On Mac OS X 10.7
Medium - 640x480
High - 1280x720
Maximum - 1920x1080
On Mac OS X 10.8
Medium - 640x480
High - 1280x720
Maximum - 1920x1080
You can switch recording quality on Mac OS X 10.6 from High to Maximum to record 1920x1080 from C920. But it will only record at about 5 fps on 10.6.
If you can upgrade your system to 10.7 or 10.8, not only can you record 1280x720 at High quality setting. You can also get a lot higher fps while recording at 1920x1080.
I am using OSX 10.7, and is thinking of buying your WebCam settings app with my Logitec c615.
ReplyDeleteI would like to disable the rightsound feature of the webcam because it gives a metallic voice and I prefer when the sound is pure.
Is it possible to turn this feature off ? Thank you ! Great Work !
Can I get the version that's two behind 1.5? It seemed to run my MS LifeCam Cinema just fine but the last two versions appear to have given me the instability you mentioned in the release notes where Skype w/ WebCam Settings will 'crash' the webcam.
ReplyDeleteCan you email me at mactaris@mac.com? I will try to resolve the issue of new versions with your help. Thank you very much.
DeleteJust to be clear, neither Webcam nor Sight Control work with external FireWire cameras, correct?
ReplyDeleteThey both work with UVC (USB Video Class) cameras only.
DeleteI have 2 Logitech c920 cameras and would like them both running at the same time. Is that possible with this app?
ReplyDeleteYes, you can use Webcam Settings to control both of your C920 at the same time. There is a popup menu on top of the panel which allows you to switch between all your connected cameras.
DeleteA feature request: it would be great if I could schedule settings. My c910 does fine on its own during the day but won't adjust to suitable night settings on its own. Ideally I'd like to set manual settings at night and leave it completely automatic (except maybe focus) during the day.
ReplyDeleteI will think about how to add this feature into Webcam Settings. If you have any idea how this can be implemented, please send me an email. Thank you very much for the suggestion.
DeleteSeems to support basic functionality (brightness, gamma, autofocus, etc.) of GearHead WC4750AFB. Thank you so much! I hate this camera's twitchy autofocus, and with Webcam Settings, I think I can get focus locked on and then disable autofocus.
ReplyDeleteI am not familiar with GearHead webcams, thank you so much your information. If you like Webcam Settings, may I ask you to leave a review on the Mac App Store? Thanks.
DeleteThe autofocus feature requires image processing which is probably not an easy task for a webcam. Even Apple is constantly improving their autofocus algorithm for iPhone. I hope newer webcams equipped with better imaging chips can do a better job on this.
Does this software support the Logitech B910 as well as the C910?
ReplyDeleteFrom Logitech support forum they said B910 and C910 are the same except for bundled software. So I think there shouldn't be any problem. Please email me if found any issue with C910. Thank you very much.
DeleteJust got my B910 and it seems to work fine with Webcam Settings. Which is nice as the B910 is a lot cheaper than the C910 for the same camera!
DeleteOn MS LifeCam Cinema, the "aperture Priority" setting does not automatically adjust exposure time at all. What gives? Is it possible to implement full auto on this camera?
ReplyDeleteIn "Aperture Priority" mode, webcams should adjust exposure automatically. Logitech cameras does this flawlessly. For some reason Microsoft cameras (Cinema, Studio and maybe others too) failed to do so on a Mac. I guess this is why lots of MS camera users buying Webcam Settings for.
DeleteI will spend some time to study MS cameras on Windows, maybe I can find out the reason why they don't work properly on a Mac. Please send me an email if you like to discuss further on this. Thanks.
Webcam Setting support Logitech C615 webcam on Loin 10.8.3 ???????
ReplyDeleteYes, Both Webcam Settings and Logitech C615 works fine on Lion 10.7, Mountain Lion 1.08 and Mavericks 10.9.
DeleteSo where is the support for the original external iSight camera?
ReplyDeletePlease check iVision app, it is designed specifically for external iSight camera.

DeleteMy C920 video recording lags tremendously (both with and without Webcam Settings app that I just purchased). Can I fix it somehow?
ReplyDeleteWhich app are you using to record video? You can try to use QuickTime Player to record video. Please check FAQ #3 which may help you record video with C920.
DeleteI just purchased the App for my iMac and built-in camera. This purchase was based on the screen shot showing a zoom function. I cannot find the zoom function when I open the App.
ReplyDeleteDear Mike,
DeleteI saw your post on another page and replied there, please allow me to re-post my answer again here.
Your original post:
----------------------------------------
I just purchased this app for the zoom feature shown on the "advanced" tab screen shot. Turns out this is not supported by my built in iMac camera. I just wasted $7.99. You should say that all features shown are not supported by all cameras.
My answer:
----------------------------------------
Dear Mike,
I did put this information in the product description on this page and on the Mac App Store,
==============================
Advanced Settings (Only Microsoft LifeCam Studio, Cinema, Logitech HD Webcam C525, C615, C910 and C920 support Zoom, Pan and Tilt, please check our website for camera support.)
• Focus
• Zoom
• Pan
• Tilt
==============================
If I change this section into "all features shown are not supported by all cameras" as you suggested, will it be more clear to every user? Or do you think there is any other place I should change? Please help me correct this problem to prevent other users from buying this app and thinking they will get every setting to work on their camera. Your help will be highly appreciated.
And may I ask you to check this link for how to get a refund from App Store?
http://gizmodo.com/5886683/how-to-get-a-refund-from-the-app-store
If you have trouble getting refund from Apple, please let me know.
Thank you very much.
Sometimes it is hard to find text details on apps. I tend to rely on screen shots. So it would have been helpful to have a little disclaimer by the screen shots.
DeleteThanks for your help with this.
I will try to add a reminder to the screenshot in the next version, the designer who helped me designed the screenshots probably wouldn't like that :)
DeleteThank you very much for help clarifying this issue.
C930e webcam settings (let's say default)
ReplyDeleteMAC mini
the auto focus gets clicky like a mofo
should i have got the 920 and skipped
the webcam settings app ?
I am not sure if I understand your question correctly. Can you try turn off auto focus on C930e and use the slider to manually adjust the focus to where you think is appropriate?
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI brought an Andonstar with stand ti=o photograph my coins. I bought your webcam settings software hoping that I would have more control and adjustments than with the supplied Mac software with the Andonstar. Your software recognizes the Andonstar, but never shows a window with the Andostar output. Can I get your software to work with my Andostar?
Thanks...Mike Ferrari
You can use QuickTime Player or Photo Booth to preview video output from your Andonstar microscope. Both apps for build in OS X. While previewing video, you can use Webcam Settings to adjust video quality from your Andonstar to get better picture.
Deletedoesn't work with iSight ?!
ReplyDeletePlease check this page for iVision, which is designed specifically for the original Apple External FireWire iSight.

Of course, you're right. iSight works perfectly with the iVison trial version. After spending uselessly 8.95$ on Webcam Settings, do I have to spend another 4.95$ on iVision or could you email me a serial? By the way, I bought Webcam Settings through the App. Store
ReplyDeleteThanks

Dear Liang-Hsin Chen
ReplyDeleteI have just bought the app "Webcam Settings" and installed it on my Mac with OSX 10.9.5
The zoom function does not seem to respond when hooked up to a Logitech c930e webcam.
Can you possibly give me advice on how to fix this?
Zooming in and out is my primary need from this webcam. I bought your app as the free software from Logitech does not seem to work with this latest OSX system and forums recommended your app as a solution.
Thanks so much for your help.

ReplyDeleteHi there, is there any enterprise license for this application? We have quite a few logitech webcams that we use in our Zoom Rooms that can change to 50HZ PAL in the logitech camera settings app but then when the computer restarts you have to reopen the app and change the settings back every time and with your application you don't need to do that. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
The app works also with my Razer Kiyo webcam (including advanced settings) -- so cool!!
ReplyDeleteDoes Manual mode work for you on the Kiyo? It was working for me, but now inexplicably, the image goes black when I switch to manual. The gain setting seems too high on AE which is why I'm trying to get back manual mode...

I Pais money for your Webcam Settings app on Apple Store. It worked ok for my old iMac internal camera (2015). I just bought a new iMac (2020 27"). Your app no longer recognizes the internal new iMac camera. I am unable to adjust the settings at all. It also seems that you have abandoned this app altogether. Will you be updating this app?? Or am I out of my money?

ReplyDeleteJust bought the app for my C922 Pro. One big feature missing: Ultra Wide Angle that is available with this camera.

Hi,
ReplyDeleteI just bought the app. I am running a 15" 2018 Macbook Pro using the built-in FaceTime HD Camera. Unfortunately when I launch the control panel, it literally has no options on basic or advanced. The only things I can change are on the preferences page. I feel like this might be a Big Sur issue where the app is not getting access to the camera?
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Will there be updates coming for Big Sur? As soon as my ios updated, the app stopped working on my built-in camera. Please update ASAP!
